Apple receives a patent for a keyboard with removable keys.
(IANS) Apple is developing a removable key that will be part of future MacBook accessories, according to a recent patent filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office.
According to GizmoChina, it might be used as a precise mouse for quick display navigation. The patent file, aptly titled the Deployable Key Mouse, includes a description of what the key will look like and how it would operate in a MacBook.
The MacBook's standard-looking scissor system keyboard will be kept in the new design, but it will also include a removable key that is hidden from view, according to the report.
The key will have a position sensor that can be utilised as a pointing device to give a comfortable, portable, and precise pointer input for the PC, according to the company.
The new technological device will be useful for precise jobs such as graphic design, computer-assisted design and modelling, and document editing.
These tasks are better performed by a hand-held mouse rather than a trackpad. The patent Deployable Key Mouse, on the other hand, will serve the purpose of a mouse without adding noticeable luggage to the MacBook.
According to the patent, the new key will be battery-powered and will be situated near the edge of the keyboard in a relatively inconspicuous location.
